Miami Dade College (MDC), home of the CINTAS Fellows Collection, and the CINTAS Foundation have announced this year’s visual arts finalists for the annual CINTAS Foundation Fellowship competition. The competition awards a $10,000 fellowship for each winner in three categories: visual arts, music and creative writing.
The 2013-14 CINTAS Fellowship Visual Arts finalists are:Cristina Lei Rodriguez, Joseph Michael Lopez, Lourdes Perdomo, Marta MarÃa Pérez Bravo, Olivia Ramos, Lissette Schaeffler, Ruben Torres Llorca, Ivan Toth Depeña, and Angela Valella.

The Miami Dade College Museum of Art + Design will presents Invisible Presence: Recent works by Yovani Bauta, inaugurating the Museum’s summer season. Invisible Presence is Yovani Bauta’s first solo exhibition at the MDC Museum of Art + Design. A Cuban born, American Painter, Bauta’s artwork has manifested in many forms including traditional painting, drawing and sculpture; as well as installation, performance and interactive art. Spanning a career of over 25 years, Invisible Presence is an exhibition of recent works, including a new interactive installation, Head in the Bathroom, which explores levels of privacy and false senses of security.

Miami, June 17, 2011 –Â Miami Dade College(MDC) will soon be the new home of the renownedCintas Fellows Collection, the largest collection anywhere of Cuban art outside of Cuba. On an extended loan to MDC by the Cintas Foundation, the collection is comprised of nearly 300 pieces by artists of Cuban descent who have received prestigious Cintas Fellowships, awarded since 1963.
The collection will be formally welcomed to the college at a signing ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, at the Wolfson Campus, in the Office of Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College and champion of the arts. Some of the art from the collection will be on display at the signing.
